Canadian Veterans National Rendezvous
Greetings from Niagara Falls
I am pleased to announce the 1st Canadian Veterans National Rendezvous will be held on the weekend of July 8 –10, 2011 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The RV will be the centre piece of a national series of CVA encouraged Support the Troops rallies designed to commemorate the end of the Canadian combat mission in Afghanistan, welcome Canada's sons and daughters home and through a national Pennies for Veterans Campaign, raise funds to finance Veterans Advocates JIm Lowther, Gary Zwicker and John Percy's mission to create a mission specific Homeless Veterans facility in Halifax. Dan Laforte and the UN-NATO veterans Montreal outreach program and Calgary Police Constable John Langford's Back in Step Program will also be financially supported.
Save your Pennies!
I would take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to those currently serving and veterans from across Canada and the United States to enjoy this special celebratory weekend in Niagara Falls, Ontario. We are preparing a wonderful weekend, inclusive of veteran and military family-friendly events, entertainment and local activities on Saturday and enough free time to ensure you and your families enjoy the city's many attractions, maybe play a round of golf or, if you are riding in, participating in a memorial ride on Sunday.
Canadian and American Veterans Motorcycle Units/Associations are encouraged to ride to Niagara for a special Veterans Poker Run on Saturday. I am hoping that together, as troopers and veterans, we can unite for the largest bi-national veterans poker run in North America and am planning a wonderful route through the breathtaking Niagara Region wine and historical landscape. While not confirmed yet, a special memorial ride from Niagara on the Lake to Mather's Arch in Fort Erie will be conducted Sunday morning followed by a special memorial service for the fallen of Afghanistan at Mather's Arch, a US-Canadian war monument at 1100 hours, the traditional hour of respect.
Veterans Rendezvous highlights include a Saturday Support the Troops Rally including hours of great fun, beer tents, inside and outside musical entertainment, an assortment food and beverage vendors, marching bands, a motorcycle show and shine, a magnificent static display of vintage military vehicles as well as a variety of activities our kids and our oldest veterans alike are certain to enjoy. At approximately 330, an official ceremony will take place to pay tribute to those patriots who fight today and those who fought in yesteryear. Once it gets dark, additional activities will be provided down by the falls, with concerts, fireworks and illumination displays that will cater to all ages.
Planning on Staying for the Weekend?
Niagara Falls is truly beautiful in July and there are so many things to do! To be accorded a chance to receive special troops/veterans rates at what is the prime time of the tourist season is extraordinary act of patriotism and respect, as such, I would encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to travel or ride to Niagara Falls to enjoy our city's hospitality for the weekend. Great packages on accommodations, world famous attractions, restaurants and camp grounds are being prepared and will be posted at the Canadian Veterans Rendezvous website as soon as they are confirmed.
We have had a great response and I would hate for you and your family to miss out on an extraordinarily memorable time because you thought there would be plenty of time to book rooms only to find no vacancies!
How about a second honeymoon, soldier, inclusive of a romantic visit to the honeymoon capital of the world?
Or a romantic getaway weekend with the girl/boy friend inclusive of a show at the casino, maybe a round of golf at one of many world renown golf courses?
How about the wife and kids! What a great way to re-establish family bonds tested by years of war in Afghanistan! A nice weekend vacation in Niagara Falls with your loved ones, a great time everybody will undoubtedly remember for the rest of your lives? Marineland? Great Wolf lodge? Fort George, the Falls, there is so much to do and see in Niagara and on July 8-10 weekend, I would encourage you to join us.
God bless out troops, God bless our Veterans, God bless Canada and our allies.
